Sunan Ibn Majah
سنن ابن ماجه
Sunan Ibn Majah completes the six canonical hadith collections, compiled by Imam Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Majah al-Qazwini (209-273 AH/824-887 CE). This work contains 4,341 hadiths organized into 37 books covering the full spectrum of Islamic teachings. The collection is notable for containing 3,002 hadiths not found in the other five canonical works, making it an important supplementary source. While some narrations have weaker authentication than those in the other five collections, the work remains valuable for its comprehensive coverage of topics. Imam Ibn Majah traveled extensively to gather hadiths from scholars in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and the Hijaz. His systematic arrangement of traditions according to jurisprudential topics and his inclusion of numerous unique narrations make this collection an essential reference for Islamic scholarship, completing the revered Kutub al-Sittah (Six Books).
