Chapter 12: Restraining one's tongue during times of tribulation - كتاب الفتن

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُنَيْسٍ الْمَكِّيُّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ حَسَّانَ الْمَخْزُومِيَّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ، زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ ‏ "‏ كَلاَمُ ابْنِ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ لاَ لَهُ إِلاَّ الأَمْرَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَالنَّهْىَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَذِكْرَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

It was narrated from Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“The words of the son of Adam count against him, not for him, except what is good and forbidding what is evil, and remembering Allah.”
