Hadith 4859
Chapter 2: "Have you then considered Al-Lat and AI-'Uzza? (1) " (V.53:19) (1) :(Ch. 2) Lat and 'Uzza were two idols worshipped by the pagan Arabs during the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance. - كتاب التفسير
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَشْهَبِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجَوْزَاءِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، رضى الله عنهما فِي قَوْلِهِ {اللاَّتَ وَالْعُزَّى} كَانَ الَّلاَتُ رَجُلاً يَلُتُّ سَوِيقَ الْحَاجِّ.
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
(regarding His Statement about the Lat and the `Uzza: Lat was originally a man who used to mix Sawiq for the pilgrim.
ইব্নু ‘আব্বাস (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিতঃ তিনি আল্লাহ্র বাণী اللاَّتَ وَالْعُزَّى এর ব্যাখ্যায় বলেন, এখানে ‘লাত’ বলে এ ব্যক্তিকে বোঝানো হয়েছে, যে হাজীদের জন্য ছাতু গুলত। (আ.প্র. ৪৪৯২, ই.ফা. ৪৪৯৫)
