Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with AbudDarda' in the mosque of Damascus.
A man came to him and said: AbudDarda, I have come to you from the town of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). I have come for no other purpose.
He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion.
کثیر بن قیس کہتے ہیں کہ
میں ابو الدرداء رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ دمشق کی مسجد میں بیٹھا تھا کہ اتنے میں ان کے پاس ایک شخص آیا اور ان سے کہنے لگا : اے ابو الدرداء ! میں آپ کے پاس رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے شہر سے اس حدیث کے لیے آیا ہوں جس کے متعلق مجھے یہ خبر ملی ہے کہ آپ اسے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں میں آپ کے پاس کسی اور غرض سے نہیں آیا ہوں ، اس پر ابوالدرداء نے کہا : میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے : ” جو شخص طلب علم کے لیے راستہ طے کرتا ہے اللہ تعالیٰ اس کے بدلے اسے جنت کی راہ چلاتا ہے اور فرشتے طالب علم کی بخشش کی دعا کرتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ مچھلیاں پانی میں دعائیں کرتی ہیں ، اور عالم کی فضیلت عابد پر ایسے ہی ہے جیسے چودھویں رات کی تمام ستاروں پر ، اور علماء انبیاء کے وارث ہیں ، اور نبیوں نے اپنا وارث درہم و دینار کا نہیں بنایا بلکہ علم کا وارث بنایا تو جس نے علم حاصل کیا اس نے ایک وافر حصہ لیا “ ۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَزِيرِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، قَالَ لَقِيتُ شَبِيبَ بْنَ شَيْبَةَ فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي سَوْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، - يَعْنِي عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم - بِمَعْنَاهُ .
The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Abu al-Darda through a different chain of narrators to the same effect from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ)

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” جو شخص حصول علم کے لیے کوئی راستہ طے کرتا ہے تو اللہ تعالیٰ اس کی وجہ سے اس کے لیے جنت کا راستہ آسان کر دیتا ہے ، اور جس کو اس کے عمل نے پیچھے کر دیا تو اسے اس کا نسب آگے نہیں کر سکے گا “ ۔
Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying:

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي نَمْلَةَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَعِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ مُرَّ بِجَنَازَةٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ هَلْ تَتَكَلَّمُ هَذِهِ الْجَنَازَةُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ " . فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ إِنَّهَا تَتَكَلَّمُ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَا حَدَّثَكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ فَلاَ تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ وَلاَ تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ بَاطِلاً لَمْ تُصَدِّقُوهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ حَقًّا لَمْ تُكَذِّبُوهُ " .
Narrated AbuNamlah al-Ansari:
When he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and a Jew was also with him, a funeral passed by him. He (the Jew) asked (Him): Muhammad, does this funeral speak? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah has more knowledge. The Jew said: It speaks.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whatever the people of the Book tell you, do not verify them, nor falsify them, but say: We believe in Allah and His Apostle. If it is false, do not confirm it, and if it is right, do not falsify it.
ابونملہ انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھے ہوئے تھے اور آپ کے پاس ایک یہودی بھی تھا کہ اتنے میں ایک جنازہ لے جایا گیا تو یہودی نے کہا : اے محمد ! کیا جنازہ بات کرتا ہے ؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” اللہ بہتر جانتا ہے “ یہودی نے کہا : جنازہ بات کرتا ہے ( مگر دنیا کے لوگ نہیں سنتے ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” جو بات تم سے اہل کتاب بیان کریں نہ تو تم ان کی تصدیق کرو نہ تکذیب ، بلکہ یوں کہو : ہم ایمان لائے اللہ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ، اگر وہ بات جھوٹ ہو گی تو تم نے اس کی تصدیق نہیں کی ، اور اگر سچ ہو گی تو تم نے اس کی تکذیب نہیں کی “ ۔

زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں
اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے حکم دیا تو میں نے آپ کی خاطر یہودیوں کی تحریر سیکھ لی ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” قسم اللہ کی میں اپنی خط و کتابت کے سلسلہ میں یہودیوں سے مامون نہیں ہوں “ تو میں اسے سیکھنے لگا ، ابھی آدھا مہینہ بھی نہیں گزرا تھا کہ میں نے اس میں مہارت حاصل کر لی ، پھر جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو کچھ لکھوانا ہوتا تو میں ہی لکھتا اور جب کہیں سے کوئی مکتوب آتا تو اسے میں ہی پڑھتا ۔
Narrated Zayd ibn Thabit:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered me (to learn the writing of the Jews), so I learnt for him the writing of the Jews. He said: I swear by Allah, I do not trust Jews in respect of writing for me. So I learnt it, and only a fortnight passed before I mastered it. I would write for him when he wrote (to them), and read to him when something was written to him.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَخْنَسِ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُغِيثٍ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ كُنْتُ أَكْتُبُ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَسْمَعُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أُرِيدُ حِفْظَهُ فَنَهَتْنِي قُرَيْشٌ وَقَالُوا أَتَكْتُبُ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ تَسْمَعُهُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَشَرٌ يَتَكَلَّمُ فِي الْغَضَبِ وَالرِّضَا فَأَمْسَكْتُ عَنِ الْكِتَابِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَوْمَأَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ إِلَى فِيهِ فَقَالَ
" اكْتُبْ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ إِلاَّ حَقٌّ " .
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As:
I used to write everything which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). I intended (by it) to memorise it. The Quraysh prohibited me saying: Do you write everything that you hear from him while the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is a human being: he speaks in anger and pleasure? So I stopped writing, and mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He signalled with his finger to him mouth and said: Write, by Him in Whose hand my soul lies, only right comes out from it.
عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں
میں ہر اس حدیث کو جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنتا یاد رکھنے کے لیے لکھ لیتا ، تو قریش کے لوگوں نے مجھے لکھنے سے منع کر دیا ، اور کہا : کیا تم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ہر سنی ہوئی بات کو لکھ لیتے ہو ؟ حالانکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بشر ہیں ، غصے اور خوشی دونوں حالتوں میں باتیں کرتے ہیں ، تو میں نے لکھنا چھوڑ دیا ، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس کا ذکر کیا ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی انگلی سے اپنے منہ کی طرف اشارہ کیا اور فرمایا : ” لکھا کرو ، قسم اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے اس سے حق بات کے سوا کچھ نہیں نکلتا “ ۔

مطلب بن عبداللہ بن حنطب کہتے ہیں کہ
زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے اور ان سے ایک حدیث کے متعلق پوچھا ، تو انہوں نے ایک شخص کو اس حدیث کے لکھنے کا حکم دیا ، تو زید رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں حکم دیا ہے کہ ہم آپ کی حدیثوں میں سے کچھ نہ لکھیں تو انہوں نے اسے مٹا دیا ۱؎ ۔
Narrated Al-Muttalib bin 'Abd Allah bin Hantab:
Al-Muttalib ibn Abdullah ibn Hantab said: Zayd ibn Thabit entered upon Mu'awiyah and asked him about a tradition. He ordered a man to write it. Zayd said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered us not to write any of his traditions. So he erased it.
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ لَمَّا فُتِحَتْ مَكَّةُ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَكَرَ الْخُطْبَةَ خُطْبَةَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو شَاهٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اكْتُبُوا لِي . فَقَالَ
" اكْتُبُوا لأَبِي شَاهٍ " .
Abu Hurairah said :
When Mecca was conquered, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) stood up. He (Abu Hurairah) then mentioned the sermon of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). He said: A man of the Yemen, who was called Abu Shah, got up and said: Messenger of Allah! Write it for me. He said: Write it for Abu Shah.
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں
جب مکہ فتح ہوا تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے ، پھر انہوں نے ( ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ) نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے خطبہ کا ذکر کیا ، پھر کہا کہ ایک یمنی شخص کھڑا ہوا جسے ابو شاہ کہا جاتا تھا ، اور اس نے عرض کیا : اللہ کے رسول ! میرے لیے ( یہ خطبہ ) لکھ دیجئیے ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” ابو شاہ کے لیے لکھ دو “ ۔
Abu Hurairah said :

`Abd Allah bin al-Zubair said on the authority of the father :
I asked al-Zubair : What prevents you from narrating traditions from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as his Companions narrate from him? He said: By Allah I was very close to him. But I heard him (ﷺ) say: He who lies about me deliberately will certainly come to his abode in Hell.
عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ
میں نے زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا : آپ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اور صحابہ کی طرح حدیثیں کیوں نہیں بیان کرتے ؟ تو انہوں نے کہا : اللہ کی قسم مجھ کو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ایک طرح کی قربت و منزلت حاصل تھی لیکن میں نے آپ کو بیان فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے : ” جس نے مجھ پر جان بوجھ کر جھوٹ باندھا اس کا ٹھکانہ جہنم ہے “ ۔
`Abd Allah bin al-Zubair said on the authority of the father :
I asked al-Zubair : What prevents you from narrating traditions from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as his Companions narrate from him? He said: By Allah I was very close to him. But I heard him (ﷺ) say: He who lies about me deliberately will certainly come to his abode in Hell.
Abu Hurairah sat beside the apartment of `A’ishah while she was praying. He then began to say: Listen, O lady of the apartment, saying it twice (in quick succession). When she finished her prayer, she said: Are you not surprised at him and the way he narrates traditions from the Apostle of the Allah (ﷺ). When the Apostle of the Allah (ﷺ) gave a talk, a man could count his words if he wished to count.
عروہ کہتے ہیں
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے حجرے کے بغل میں بیٹھے تھے اور وہ نماز پڑھ رہی تھیں تو وہ کہنے لگے : سن اے حجرے والی ! دو بار یہ جملہ کہا ، جب ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نماز سے فارغ ہوئیں تو کہنے لگیں : کیا تمہیں اس پر اور اس کی حدیث پر تعجب نہیں کہ وہ کیسے جلدی جلدی بیان کر رہا ہے ، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب کلام کرتے تو اگر شمار کرنے والا اسے شمار کرنا چاہتا تو شمار کر لیتا ( یعنی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم صاف صاف اور بالکل واضح انداز میں بات کرتے تھے ) ۔
`Urwah said:
Abu Hurairah sat beside the apartment of `A’ishah while she was praying. He then began to say: Listen, O lady of the apartment, saying it twice (in quick succession). When she finished her prayer, she said: Are you not surprised at him and the way he narrates traditions from the Apostle of the Allah (ﷺ). When the Apostle of the Allah (ﷺ) gave a talk, a man could count his words if he wished to count.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَهْرِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَتْ أَلاَ يُعْجِبُكَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ جَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَانِبِ حُجْرَتِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُسْمِعُنِي ذَلِكَ وَكُنْتُ أُسَبِّحُ فَقَامَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ سُبْحَتِي وَلَوْ أَدْرَكْتُهُ لَرَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ يَكُنْ يَسْرُدُ الْحَدِيثَ مِثْلَ سَرْدِكُمْ .
Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:
Are you not surprised at AbuHurayrah? He came and sat beside my apartment, and began to narrate traditions from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) making me hear them. I was saying supererogatory prayer. He got up (and went away) before I finished my prayer. Had I found him, I would have replied to him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not narrate traditions quickly one after another as you narrate quickly.
عروہ بن زبیر کہتے ہیں کہ
ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا : کیا تمہیں ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ پر تعجب نہیں کہ وہ آئے اور میرے حجرے کے ایک جانب بیٹھے اور مجھے سنانے کے لیے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے حدیث بیان کرنے لگے ، میں نفل نماز پڑھ رہی تھی ، تو وہ قبل اس کے کہ میں اپنی نماز سے فارغ ہوتی اٹھے ( اور چلے گئے ) اور اگر میں انہیں پاتی تو ان سے کہتی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تمہاری طرح جلدی جلدی باتیں نہیں کرتے تھے ۔
Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin:
Are you not surprised at AbuHurayrah? He came and sat beside my apartment, and began to narrate traditions from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) making me hear them. I was saying supererogatory prayer. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not narrate traditions quickly one after another as you narrate quickly.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone is given a legal decision ignorantly, the sin rests on the one who gave it. Sulayman al-Mahri added in his version: If anyone advises his brother, knowing that guidance lies in another direction, he has deceived him. These are the wordings of Sulayman.
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” جس نے فتوی دیا “ اور سلیمان بن داود مہری کی روایت میں ہے جس کو بغیر علم کے فتوی دیا گیا ۔ تو اس کا گناہ فتوی دینے والے پر ہو گا “ ۔ سلیمان مہری نے اپنی روایت میں اتنا اضافہ کیا ہے کہ جس نے اپنے بھائی کو کسی ایسے امر کا مشورہ دیا جس کے متعلق وہ یہ جانتا ہو کہ بھلائی اس کے علاوہ دوسرے میں ہے تو اس نے اس کے ساتھ خیانت کی ۔

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone is given a legal decision ignorantly, the sin rests on the one who gave it. Sulayman al-Mahri added in his version: If anyone advises his brother, knowing that guidance lies in another direction, he has deceived him. These are the wordings of Sulayman.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" مَنْ سُئِلَ عَنْ عِلْمٍ فَكَتَمَهُ أَلْجَمَهُ اللَّهُ بِلِجَامٍ مِنْ نَارٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Narrated AbuHurayrah:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He who is asked something he knows and conceals it will have a bridle of fire put on him on the Day of Resurrection.
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” جس سے کوئی دین کا مسئلہ پوچھا گیا اور اس نے اسے چھپا لیا تو اللہ تعالیٰ قیامت کے دن اسے آگ کی لگام پہنائے گا “ ۔
Narrated AbuHurayrah:

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:

زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا : ” اللہ تعالیٰ اس شخص کو تروتازہ رکھے جس نے ہم سے کوئی بات سنی اور اسے یاد رکھا یہاں تک کہ اسے دوسروں تک پہنچا دیا کیونکہ بہت سے حاملین فقہ ایسے ہیں جو فقہ کو اپنے سے زیادہ فقہ و بصیرت والے کو پہنچا دیتے ہیں ، اور بہت سے فقہ کے حاملین خود فقیہ نہیں ہوتے ہیں “ ۔
Narrated Zayd ibn Thabit:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: May Allah brighten a man who hears a tradition from us, gets it by heart and passes it on to others. Many a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who is more versed than he is; and many a bearer of knowledge is not versed in it.
I swear on Allah, it will be better for you that Allah should give guidance to one man through your agency than that you should acquire the red ones among the camels.
سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” قسم اللہ کی ، اگر تیری رہنمائی سے اللہ تعالیٰ ایک آدمی کو بھی ہدایت دیدے تو یہ تیرے لیے سرخ اونٹ سے ( جو بہت قیمتی اور عزیز ہوتے ہیں ) بہتر ہے “ ۔
Sahl b. Sa’d reported the prophet (ﷺ) as saying:
I swear on Allah, it will be better for you that Allah should give guidance to one man through your agency than that you should acquire the red ones among the camels.

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنِ الْمُعَلَّى بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ جَلَسْتُ فِي عِصَابَةٍ مِنْ ضُعَفَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَإِنَّ بَعْضَهُمْ لَيَسْتَتِرُ بِبَعْضٍ مِنَ الْعُرْىِ وَقَارِئٌ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْنَا إِذْ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَامَ عَلَيْنَا فَلَمَّا قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سَكَتَ الْقَارِئُ فَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ " مَا كُنْتُمْ تَصْنَعُونَ " . قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ كَانَ قَارِئٌ لَنَا يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْنَا فَكُنَّا نَسْتَمِعُ إِلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ . قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مَنْ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَصْبِرَ نَفْسِي مَعَهُمْ " . قَالَ فَجَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَسَطَنَا لِيَعْدِلَ بِنَفْسِهِ فِينَا ثُمَّ قَالَ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا فَتَحَلَّقُوا وَبَرَزَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ لَهُ - قَالَ - فَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَرَفَ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا غَيْرِي . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَبْشِرُوا يَا مَعْشَرَ صَعَالِيكِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ بِالنُّورِ التَّامِّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ قَبْلَ أَغْنِيَاءِ النَّاسِ بِنِصْفِ يَوْمٍ وَذَاكَ خَمْسُمِائَةِ سَنَةٍ " .
Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri:
I was sitting in the company of the poor members of the emigrants. Some of them were sitting together because of lack of clothing while a reader was reciting to us. All of a sudden the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came along and stood beside us. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood, the reader stopped and greeted him.
He asked: What were you doing? We said: Messenger of Allah! We had a reader who was reciting to us and we were listening to the Book of Allah, the Exalted.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: Praise be to Allah Who has put among my people those with whom I have been ordered to stay. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then sat among us so as to be like one of us, and when he had made a sign with his hand they sat in a circle with their faces turned towards him.
The narrator said: I think that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not recognize any of them except me.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: Rejoice, you group of poor emigrants, in the announcement that you will have perfect light on the Day of Resurrection. You will enter Paradise half a day before the rich, and that is five hundred years.
ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں
میں غریب و خستہ حال مہاجرین کی جماعت میں جا بیٹھا ، ان میں بعض بعض کی آڑ میں برہنگی کے سبب چھپتا تھا اور ایک قاری ہم میں قرآن پڑھ رہا تھا ، اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور ہمارے درمیان آ کر کھڑے ہو گئے ، جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہو گئے تو قاری خاموش ہو گیا ، آپ نے ہمیں سلام کیا پھر فرمایا : ” تم لوگ کیا کر رہے تھے ؟ “ ہم نے عرض کیا : ہمارے یہ قاری ہیں ہمیں قرآن پڑھ کر سنا رہے تھے اور ہم اللہ کی کتاب سن رہے تھے ۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” سبھی تعریفیں اس اللہ تعالیٰ کے لیے ہیں جس نے میری امت میں ایسے لوگوں کو پیدا کیا کہ مجھے حکم دیا گیا کہ میں اپنے آپ کو ان کے ساتھ روکے رکھوں “ ۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمارے درمیان میں آ کر بیٹھ گئے تاکہ اپنے آپ کو ہمارے برابر کر لیں ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے ہاتھ کے اشارے سے حلقہ بنا کر بیٹھنے کا اشارہ کیا ، تو سبھی لوگ حلقہ بنا کر بیٹھ گئے اور ان سب کا رخ آپ کی طرف ہو گیا ۔ ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں : تو میرے علاوہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کسی کو نہیں پہچانا ، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” اے فقرائے مہاجرین کی جماعت ! تمہارے لیے قیامت کے دن نور کامل کی بشارت ہے ، تم لوگ جنت میں مالداروں سے آدھے دن پہلے داخل ہو گے ، اور یہ پانچ سو برس ہو گا ۱؎ “ ۔

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” میرا ایسی قوم کے ساتھ بیٹھنا جو فجر سے لے کر طلوع شمس تک اللہ کا ذکر کرتی ہو میرے نزدیک اسماعیل علیہ السلام کی اولاد سے چار غلام آزاد کرنے سے زیادہ پسندیدہ امر ہے ، اور میرا ایسی قوم کے ساتھ بیٹھنا جو نماز عصر سے غروب آفتاب تک اللہ کے ذکرو اذکار میں منہمک رہتی ہو میرے نزدیک چار غلام آزاد کرنے سے زیادہ محبوب ہے “ ۔
Narrated Anas ibn Malik:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: That I sit in the company of the people who remember Allah the Exalted from morning prayer till the sun rises is dearer to me than that I emancipate four slaves from the children of Isma`il, and that I sit with the people who remember Allah from afternoon prayer till the sun sets is dearer to me than that I emancipate four slaves.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: recite Surat al-Nisa’. I asked: Shall I recite to you what was sent down to you? He replied: I like to here it from someone else. So I recited (it) until I reached this verse “How then shall it be when We bring from every people a witness?”. Then I raised my head and saw tears falling from his eyes.
عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں
مجھ سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” تم مجھ پر سورۃ نساء پڑھو “ میں نے عرض کیا : کیا میں آپ کو پڑھ کے سناؤں ؟ جب کہ وہ آپ پر اتاری گئی ہے ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” میں چاہتا ہوں کہ میں اوروں سے سنوں “ پھر میں نے آپ کو «فكيف إذا جئنا من كل أمة بشهيد» ” اس وقت کیا ہو گا جب ہم ہر امت سے ایک گواہ لائیں گے “ ( سورة النساء : ۴۱ ) تک پڑھ کر سنایا ، اور اپنا سر اٹھایا تو کیا دیکھتا ہوں کہ آپ کی دونوں آنکھوں سے آنسو جاری ہے ۔
`Abd Allah (b. Mas`ud) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: recite Surat al-Nisa’. I asked: Shall I recite to you what was sent down to you? He replied: I like to here it from someone else. So I recited (it) until I reached this verse “How then shall it be when We bring from every people a witness?”. Then I raised my head and saw tears falling from his eyes.
